The pity Commission of the pity of Lubbock, Texas, met at 1:00 otclock P.M. in Special Session, at the "ity Hall in the pity of Lubbock, with the following members being present, to -wit: Mayor C A Be stwic k Commissioner J Ray Dickey Commissioner John Spikes Absent: Commissioners W B Price and F H Childress 'Vpbn otiDn ifity cCommis si one r Dickey. seconded by Commissioner Spikes, and carried unanimously, that the returns of the General Election for the election of Mayor and two Commissioners, held April 6, 1948, be opened and canvassed and results thereof declared therefrom, and said returns having been duly canvassed it was found that the votes for -the various candidates were as fol- lows.. Candidates for Mayor: C.A. Bestwick, Total Number of votes for Mayor: 1751 W.H. Rodgers, Total Number of votes for llliayor: 2151 E.K. Huf stedle r, Jr., for Commissioner No. '2 (unopposed) , Total Number of votes: 1 3797 Clarence K.Whiteside, for Commissioner No. 4 (unopposed), Total nufter of votes: 3811 And it further appearing that said election was duly held as provided by law, and that to.H. Rodgers received a majority of 400 votes for the office of iNayor, and that L.K. Hufstedler, Jr., received '37 9? votes, majority, for Commissioner No. 2, and Clarence K. Whiteside, received 3811 votes, majority, for Commissio No. 4 , and that each of said persons was duly elected ,-Uy the quaFit, ified fvbters'. of. the City of Lubbock, it is therefore found and declared by the Commission that W.H. Rodgers was duly elected Mayor and E.K. Huf stedler, Jr., duly elected 'ommissioner No. 2, and Clarence K.
