HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 032948A - Notice To Bidders - Street Improvements - 32Nd Street & Avenue H - 03/29/1948a�2a'+8A RESOLMON r YJIi aEA.S2 the City Commission has heretofore passed Ordinances ho. 802 and 812, relating to the paving of streets, avenues and alleys des- ignated therein, and the Commission now finds that it is in the public interest, and necessary to advertise for bids covering the surfacing of approximately thirty-eight (38) blocks of streets provided for in said Ordinances; and 1*1EREAS, the Commission having discussed the urgent need of seal coating approximately ninety-five (95) blocks of old pave- ment now finds it to be in the interest of the public to advertise for bids covering this work; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY Cca,24ISSI0IJ'0F THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT! the Mayor and City Secretary, BE, and they are hereby auth- orized to advertise for bids for 59,511 square yards of asphalt sur- facing and 135,039 square yards of seal coating provided for in the specifications prepared by the City Engineer for said project, the same being a part of the 191,.8 paving program AND IT IS SO (R DEED: On motion by Commissioner Price , Seconded by Commissioner Dickey , the foregoing resolution was duly passed by'unenim ous vote of the City Commission this the 29 Mar ch day of s 1948. ATTEST: ,� ity Secreta IF" v RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on January 22, 1948, the City Commission passed a resolution provid- ing for the improvements of a portion of streets, avenues and/or alleys in the City of Lubbock and directing preparation of plans and specifications covering the streets as named in said resolution, and, WHEREAS, on March 25, 1948, pursuant to the above resolution, the City Engin was directed to prepare and file with the City Commission estimates, rolls, etc., in connection with the proposed improvements on streets and portions of streets, avenues and/or alleys in the City of Lubbock as set out in said resolution, and, WHEREAS, the City Engineer has prepared specifications covering said paving program contemplated by said resolution, NOVi THEREFOREj BE IT :iESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT, the specifications submitted by the City Engineer and dated March, 1948, covering improvements contemplated by said resolution, BE, and the same are hereby approved and the Mayor and City Secretary are hereby authorized to advertise for bids in accordance.therewith and in accordance with the "Notice to Bidders" made a part of said specifications'covering the quantities,of materials needed for said paving program as therein set out. II AND IT IS SO ORDERED. On motion by Commissioner . Dickey , seconded by Commissioner Price , the foregoing resolution was unanimously passed by the City Commission, all members being present, the 29 day of March , 194, i Mayor ATTESTS ! c City Secretary RESOLUTION WHEREAS., the City Commission of the City of Lubbock finds that a corner curb return is needed at the Southwest corner of the intersection of Avenue "H" and 32nd Street for street name signs, stop signs, utility poles, fire plugs, other municipal purposes and pedestrians safety, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF%UBBOCKt THAT, the City Engineer be, and he is hereby directed in connection with the paving of 32nd Street, at its intersection with Avenue WHO, on the West side of Avenue "H", to construct a corner curb return at the Southwest corner of the intersection adequate for the purposes set out in the preamble to this resolution and that the curb be "laid down" along the driveway immediately West, of the curb return so as to permit a driveway entrance to the property of Clyde Foster located immediately adjacent to the corner, and that along the East side of said property and South of the corner curb return the curb be laid down as kequested by the owner and lessee, so as to permit a driveway entrance to the property. AND IT IS SO ORDERED. On motion of Commissioner Dickey , seconded by Commissioner Spikes , the foregoing resolution was passed by a majority vote of the City Commission in Special Meeting, this the 29th day of March, 1945• ATTEST: l�L�lrrr City Secreta
