WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock, Texas, a municipal corporation, duly
organized and existing under and by virtue of the laws of the State of Texas,
made and entered into a lease on the 13th day of November, 1942, with the United
States of America, hereinafter called the Government, for the following described
premises, viz:
All of Section Twenty-eight (28), Block A, containing Six Hundred Fort."'
(640) acres, more or less, and
Section Two. (2), Block D3; the Southeast Quarter (SE -41); the East Half
of the Southwest Quarter (ESYu4), the South Half of the South Half of the Northeast
Quarter (S2S!NE-1'-1'the South Half of the Southeast C,ivarter of the Northwest Quarter
(S2SE7-NW1-) of Section Thirty-two (32), Block A, all in Lubbock County, Texas, and
containing Nine Hundred Fort: (940) acres.
To be used exclusively by the Government for a Military Reservation'and
Airport, United States Army Air Forces, and
WHEREAS, the Government has ceased to use the above described premises for
a Military reservation and Airport, and has declared same surplus to its needs, and
i'HEREAS, the City of Lubbock has requested the Government to cancel the
above mentioned lease and restore the premises to the same condition as that exist-
ing at the time of entering upon same under this lease, as provided in the lease ---
or in lieu thereof that the Government leave in place the alterations and improve-
ments made to the lands described above, and give the City clear title to same
as the Government has the option of doing under the terms of the lease,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Commissim of the City of Lubbock
that the Mayor of the City of Lubbock be and he is hereby authorized and instructed
to notify the War Assets Administration that the City of Lubbock will not apply
for the surplus airport property at South Plains Army Air Field under the provisions
of Public Law 289.
PASSED AND APPROVED by unanimous vote of the City Commission this the
