MENT FOR BIDS.
WHEREAS, the City Commission on January 131 19491 passed a resolution
providing for the improvement of a portion of streets and avenues in,the
City of Lubbock to be done under General Work Order Number 502 and directing
preparation of plans and specifications covering the streets and avenues as
named in said resolution; ands
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has prepared and filed with the City plans
and specifications for such improvements,,. and same have been examined; NOW
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCKs
THAT.. the plans and specifications submitted by the City Engineer,
Qovering improvements contemplated by said resolution) BE,, and the same are
hereby approved and the Magor and City Secretary are hereby authorized and
directed to advertise for bids in accordance with the KNbtice to Biddersn
made a part of said specifications covering the quantities of materials
needed for said paving program as therein set out..
AND IT IS SO ORDERED

curb and ,gutter, caliche base, and asphalt surface teatrseni on certain
streets in the City of Lubbock as N-reinafter sipecifically designated.
As soon as possible rfter receiving the bids they will be considered
and the successful bidder notified.
Prices in the Proposal sha;.l be :ir`de on tho basis of unit measurement
for each of the 6'e& iters in the proposal. The approxk.iate quan.
tities are as follows: Su<<rade preparation 11p .�i.3..3 4 square yards;
Concrete Curb and Gutter .5"8• �_iy�10 linear fe'ot; and Pavement ( includes
caliche base and ,asphalt surf6ce_-treatixent), lo�1 L --square yards.
Bidders rust submit cashier! s or certified check issued by a bank
satisfactory to the Owner, or a Bidders Bond kc=aa reliable Surety Company,
Payable without recourse to the order of the Citycf Lubbock in mount
not less than five (5%) per cent of the largest possible bid submitted as a
guarantee that Bidder will enter into a contract and acecute bond and guaranty
in the forms provided within ten (10) days after notive of award of contract
to him, Bids without required check or Proposal Bond will not be considered*
The Successful Bidder Yaust furnish performance bond on the attached
form in the amount of one hondred (100),per cent of the total contract price
from a Surety Company holding a permit fron lie State of Texas to act as
Surety, or other Surety of Sureties acceptable to the Owner.
The City reserves the right to reject my or allbids, to waive for—
nalities, to accept the bid which seems most advantageous to the Cityt s

Attention is called to the provisions of the Acts of the 43rd legisla—
ture of the State of Texas, page 91, Chapter 45, (Article No. 5159A Civil
Statutes 1925) covering the wade scale and paynent cf prevailing rates of
wages, as established 'xj.the Owner. Said scale of prevailing rates of wages
is set forth in the specifications.
Infornation for bidders, proposal forms, plans and Tecifications are
on file at the office of X.LoOldhan, City Engineer, at the City Hall
Lubbock, Texas,and maybe procured upon a deposit of mn as a
guarantee of safe return of the plans and specifications. The full amount

of this deposit will be rsttumr dto meh bidder iranediately upon return
of the plans and q:)ocifications in g)od condition. No refund on contract
docuiient and plans returned later than ten (10) days ctur the date of re—
ceiving bids tiiilll be obligatory. Adc'titional sots of ��1ans naybe obtained
at the cost of duplication.
The bidders attention is c,--l.lec'tc the fact that, although he iill be
paid in msh by the City of LuLhock for work perfomed under tie trr.s of
this contract, no work diall be corm.enced by the Contractor on any unit
unless and until the City Engineer has issued his written order to the
Contractor to proceed with c ons"ruc tion of the unit and the City Engineer
,will not issue such written or'.cr ur-l.,ss contracts for the paving have been
executed by all abutting property inners in the unit or the City Counissi6n
has otherwise by resolution authorized the City E..,gineer to issue such
written order.
No bid may be withdrawn aftor the schedule closing for receiving of
bids for at least thirty (30) days.
