That yovi grant me a thirty (30) day experimental license and permit for the purpose of using the streets and alleys in the business district to pick up and salvage paper and wooden crates and boxes and other paper behind garbage trucks, as follows: A. I will use one (1) truck and protect the City from any loss, claims or damages by carrying adequate public liability and property damage insurance during this period. B. The track wilt follow all garbage collectio ttrucks in the downtown area and pick up and haul away all paper, paper boxes, wooden boxes and crates abandoned by the owners and left by the garbage crew. C. The truck will follow within a short distance behind each of the City's garbage crew and keep up with the crews and pick-up the above mentioned materials to prevent the materials from being scattered. Ordinarily, the truck would be within one-half block of the garbage crew. D. I understand that the garbage crews work six (6) nights each week and on Sunday evenings, and I will follow each crew and pick up the material regardless of heather conditions. E. In making this proposal, it is understood that the City's garbage crews will empty all wooden boxes and crates and paper cartons into their garbage trucks and leave the emptied boxes, crates and cartons to be picked up by my truck. F. I do not propose to pick up boxes or crates containing garbage. G. After the material is picked up, as above specified,,- it pecified,it will be removed from the streets and placed on private property for private distribution. -1- .. w City Commission City Hall Lubbock, Texas I believe this experiment will prove beneficial to me, as well as to the City of Lubbock, in that I have a means of disposing of this material, and it will facilitate the handling of garbage by the City and reduce the bulk load to be handled by the City. This will increase the carrying capacity of the Cityls g4rba6 trucks and make the Cityts operation more economical. If this proposal is accepted, I will begin the pickup service immediately upon notification by the City Manager, and furnish evi- dence that the City is adequately covered by insurance policies as above mentioned, prior to installing the service.
