HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 042355A - Request Paving Improvements - Texas Highway Commision - Portion Of East Broadway - 04/23/1955�I RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City has received a petition from the property owners on East Broadway between Date Avenue and Zenith Avenue in the City of Lubbock, requ ing the improvement of this .portion of this thoroughfare; and,. WF�EAS, on March 24th the property owners along East Broadway met with Cory the City Commission for details of the improvement to be explained and these 4-26-55 property owners were advised that it was the City ' s plan to comply with the State to Highway Department R s request for the City to pay the cost of the median divider Mr.Hol'mes and that the City would assess the cost of the outer curbs and gutters against the Di r.1 ub . W abutting property and construct street lighting upon the completion of the I,IZr . And retAi , rehabilitation. project; and Dir.'Iub, Safety; WHEREAS, the property owners strongly opposed the construction of a median divider in the planned improvement but earnestly desired the erection of street lights on this thoroughfare which street lights must be protected with out- side curbs and gutters; and WHEREAS, two representative property owners appeared before the Highway Commission on March 34 1955., protesting the construction of this median curb; and WHE'RE.AS, since the completion of the 4th Street portion of the Highway dispersal system and the 19th street highway dispersal system the City Commission I recognizes the fact that the Highway Department will consider the removing of the designation from this portion of East.Broadway; NOWj THUMORE, ,. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMaSSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: i That the Highway Commission be requested to widen and improve that portion of East Broadway between Date Avenue and Zenith Avenue in the City of Lubbock with the request that no median divider be constructed at this time with .the understanding that the City will be responsible for the construction of out- side curbs and gutters along the widened pavement and street lighting and that the City will interpose no objection to the State Highway Department turning this thoroughfare back t ro the City for maintenance at the completion of the project.
