RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO ACQUIRE
BY CONDEMNATION PROCEEDINGS THE FEE. SIMPLE TIME TO THE PROPERTY AT THE
' IV ERSECTION OF AVENUE L AND 19TH STREET 0, AS MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED
HEREAFTER IN THE BODY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO BE USED FOR. STREET PURPOSES.
r) WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Lubbock has heretofore
determined and now finds that due to increased vehicular traffic on the
streets'of'Lubbock it is necessary to make Avenue L a public thoroughfare
into the downtown business area, and that there is an offset at Avehue L
and 19th Street presently interfering with the flow of traffic; and,
WHEREAS$ it has been further determined by said City Commission that
in order to widen'said.Avenue L at the intersection with 19th Street to
eliminate the offset it Sas necessary to acquire the fee simple title to the
property abutting and adjacent to the West property line of the present
Avenue.L lying South of 19th Street$ and more particularly* described by; metes
and bounds hereafter; ands
WHEREAS$;the City Commission has heretofore had the.land appraised and
based on the appraisal an offer of SIX THOUSAND AND NO/1+00 ($6$000.00)
DOLLARS was made by the City to F &: N CORPORATION, as owner of the land$ and
same was rejected by it; wind,
WHEREAS, said land was reappraised and a new offer in the amount of
EIGHT THOUSAND$ SIX HUNDRED FORTY --FOUR AND 88/100 ($8$6"*88) DOLLARS by the
City of Lubbock to the owner of said tract was rejected$ N 0 W$ T H E R E--1,'
F O R E.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCKs
SECTION 1. That the land along the East right-of-way line of Avenue L
North of the intersection of Avenue L and 19th Street which is deemed necessary'
for street purposes be acquired by condemnation proceedings; said land being
more particularly described as followss
BEGINNING at a point in,the West line of.Lot 9, Block 227 of
the Original Town of Lubbock, Texas, said point being 21 feet
South of the Northwest Corner of said Lot 9;
THENCE South along the West lines of Lots 9, 10$ it and 12, a,
distance of 77'feet to a point, said point being the intersectl6ur
of the West line of Lot 12 and the North R..O.W. ,line of.19th.
Street;
THENCE East along the North R.O.W. line of 19th street a distance
of 25 feet to a point;
THENCE Northwesterly across Lots 12, 13,pr 0 and 9, a distance of
80.95 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNIM Cdnta.ining 962.5 square feet
of land.
SECTION 2. The offer of EIGHT THOUSAND, SIC HUNDRED FORTY -POUR AND 88/100
($8,641..88) DOLLARS having. been made to the owner of the above described
tract of land for the purchase thereof and -said offer having been rejected,
the City Attorney EE and he is hereby authorized and directed to acquire
by condemnation proceedings the fee simple title to said land heretofore
described for street purposes
On motion of Commissioner Carpenter , seconded by
Commissioner Forrest the foregoing Resolution was
approved and passed this r1�lhday of Jamar:- 19 55
by the following votes
