R E S 0 L U T I 0 N
WHEREAS, May 8, 1958 has been set aside as FEDERAL CIVIL SERVICE
BAY in observance of the 75th Anniversary of the signing of the
Civil Service,Act; and
UIUMEAS, the City Commission has long been aware of the Com-
mission's unceasing and successful efforts to attract to
Federal employment 4dividuals of ability, experience, train-
ing and integrity who wish to rake worthwhile careers for
themselves; and
WHEREAS, the City Commissionrecognizesthe past performance and
detrotion to duty as exemplified by the career employees of the
Government-Who;meet the needs of todayrs-accelerated Management
and technical problems; and
WHEREAS, the Lubbock City Commission is aware that the answer
to better service to the U. S. public was found 75 years ago
with the -establishment of the Merit System and United States
Civil Service Commission;
NOW THEREFORE$ BE IT RESOLVED that the City Commission of
Lubbock expresses to the Civil Service Commission thanks for
the unstinting service rendered to the people of Lubbock and
of the South Plains by the Civil Service Commission, and
congratulations upon the completion of 75 years of outstanding
service to the American public through supplying to the various
departments and agencies well-qualified and high-caliber per-
sonnel to conduct the affairs of the nation.
UNANIMOUSLY PASSED AND APPROVED thisthe8th day of May, 1958.
