RESOLUTION
CANVASS OF VOTES IN GENERAL ELECTION
HELD, APRIL 3, 1962
BE IT REMEMBERED THAT on the 4th day of April, 1962, the City Commis-
sion of the City of Lubbock met at 1U:U0otclock, A. M. in special session in
compliance with the charter provision, at the regular meeting place of the Commis
sion in the City Hall, in the City of Lubbock, with the following members present,
to -wit:
On motion of Thompson seconded by Maner
it is unanimously carried that the returns of the general City election, held April
3, 1962, for the election of a Mayor and four Commissioners for terms as pro-
vided by law, be opened and canvassed, and the results thereof declared therefrom
and said returns having been duly canvassed, it is found that the votes for the
various 'c ondidate s are as follows:

And it further appearing that said election was duly held as provided by law
and that Jack F. Strong received a plurality; majority of 8664
votes of the total sum of votes cast for the office of Mayor; and thatw.E. Alderson
received a plurality: majority of 6511 votes of the total
number of votes cast- for the office of Commissioner of Place No. 1; and that
W.C. O'Mara received a luralit • majorityof 9065
votes of
the total number of votes cast for the office of Commissioner of Place No. '2• and
that Rolane Simpson received a plurality: majority of 8177
votes of the total sum of votes cast: for the office of Commissioner of Place No. 3;
and that Marvin McLarty received a plurality: majority of 9128
votes of the total sum of votes cast: for the office of Commissioner of Place No. 4;
and that each of said persons receiving such plurality or majority (as the case may
be) was duly elected by the qualified voters of the City of Lubbock:
IT IS THEREFORE FOUND, DECLARED AND CERTIFIED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK THAT ,hack -F. strong
was duly elected Mayor; and that W.E. Alderson was duly elected Commis-
sioner of Place No. 1; and that William C. O'Hara was duly elected Com-
missioner of Place No. 2; and that vson was duly elected
Commissioner of Place No. 3; and that Marvin McLarty,Jr. was duly
elected Commissioner of Place 4; all being accomplished at and by said election of
April 3, 1962.
