RESOLUTION"SA
4 a WHEREAS, the death of John F. Kennedy, President of the United States, on
this 22nd day of November, 19634, has cast our entire nation into a state of grief
and mourning„ and

WHEREAS, many millions of our fellow countrymen are shocked and grieved
over the tragedy and loss to our beloved United States, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Lubbock is of the opinion,
that as representatives of the citizens of Lubbock, that it is appropriate that it
express the dismay which overwhelms the citizens of Lubbock,, and
WHEREAS, it is the further opinion of the City Commission that in order
to express the concern and feeling of our community that the citizens of Lubbock
be requested to join in an observance of a day of mourning and prayer for our
country and its leaders as well as the family of John F. Kennedy, and NOW
THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the citizens of Lubbock be and are hereby requested to observe Sunday,
November 24th as a day of prayer and mourning for our Nation,, its leaders, and
the family of John F. Kennedy, as evidence of the concern which is mutually share
by all our citizens that everyone attend the church of his faith and order and join
in a unified observance of this day, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
THAT the Mayor be and is hereby requested to proclaim November 24, 1963,
as a day of mourning and prayer throughout the City of Lubbock, and that same be
made known to the citizens of Lubbock.
