HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 032565D - Creation Of A Teenage Jury Program - 03/25/1965()SZ5-(/" RESOLUTION WHEREAS, by reason of the recognition of the necessity to instill in teenagers an appreciation of good citizenship and safe driving of automobiles on public streets of this City it is in the public interest that a Teenage Jury program be organized in the Corporation Court of the City of Lubbock, WHEREAS, the Teenage Jury program should be an adjunct to the municipal court system, Judge of Corporation Court Number 1 is the proper official to administer the Teenage Jury program, NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK- THAT Judge G. E. Taylor, Corporation Court Judge Number 1 be and is hereby authorized to develop and administer a program with the approval, cooperation, and participation of the Lubbock Public School System wherein the teenage jurors hear evidence and make finding in an advisory capacity as to the guilt or innocence of teenage traffic offenders, and if found guilty by the teenage jury to make an advisory recommenda- tion of the punishment to be prescribed.
