WHEREAS: the Mayor and the City Council of Lubbock, Texas have
received a letter from the Honorable Jose A. Oliva Razzetto, Mayor of Ica, Peru
professing an interest in establishing relations between Lubbock and Ica
as Sister Cities, and
WHEREAS: this presents an opportunity for each city to realize
cultural, historical and economic exchanges which will be of great benefit
to each, and

WHEREAS: the peoples of these two great cities could, through

demonstration of their peaceful intentions establish a precedent w'rich could

G, become a nodel for all the world to follow.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Mayor and City Council

of the City of Lubbock do hereby agree to become a Sister City of Tea, Peru
for the purpose of interchanging cultural, historical, and peaceful thoughts,

concepts and beliefs.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that this resolution be mailed to the

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that this resolution will become a per:anert
part of the records of the City of Lubbock.
