RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Lubbock formed a Future Needs Committee (the
"Committee") and appointed certain members of the Lubbock City Council to it for the
purposes of studying anticipated needs of the City of Lubbock and its residents; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has undertaken a comprehensive study of, and met on
multiple occasions to deliberate, evaluate, and prioritize, local projects that represent
meaningful progress and development of the City, that if completed would encourage
responsible economic growth and most significantly and efficiently promote the health, safety,
and welfare of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has reported its analysis and findings to the entire Lubbock
City Council at several public meetings, and has made preliminary recommendations in
accordance therewith; and
WHEREAS, the Lubbock City Council desires to identify and accept certain
recommendations made by the Committee, and instruct the City Manager to take all necessary
steps to begin preparing funding options for consideration by the City Council to effectuate said
recommendations, including but not limited to the issuance by the City of Certificates of
Obligation.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LUBBOCK CITY COUNCIL:
THAT the City Council hereby accepts certain recommendations of the Committee as
set forth below, and directs the City Manager to bring to the City Council required items to
initiate the process of securing funding for said projects through the issuance of Certificates of
Obligation:
I Unpaved Roads Program
2 Fire Station No. 20
3 Erskine Street from the west City limits to Frankford Avenue
THAT the City Manager is encouraged to utilize the assistance of City staff, financial
advisors, and the City's bond counsel as may be appropriate in accomplishing the directives set
forth herein.
Passed by the Lubbock City Council on this, the 13th day of April, 2021.
