WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Lubbock formed a Future Needs Committee (the
"Committee") and appointed certain members of the Lubbock City Council to it for the purposes
of studying anticipated needs of the City of Lubbock and its residents; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has undertaken a comprehensive study of, and met on
multiple occasions to deliberate, evaluate, and prioritize, local projects that represent meaningful
progress and development of the City, that if completed would encourage responsible economic
growth and most significantly and efficiently promote the health, safety, and welfare of the
community; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has reported its analysis and findings to the entire Lubbock
City Council at several public meetings, and has made preliminary recommendations in
accordance therewith, including options for funding said recommendations; and
WHEREAS, the Lubbock City Council desires to express its appreciation to the
Committee for its contribution to the public discourse on future needs of the community, and
urges the Committee to continue its very important and timely work.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LUBBOCK CITY COUNCIL:
THAT the City Council expresses its appreciation to the Committee for the diligence
shown to date in accepting the charge of thoroughly reviewing, analyzing, and recommending
specific projects for consideration by the entire Lubbock City Council to address most effectively
the expected needs of the Lubbock community; and
THAT the Committee is encouraged to continue its work to study and evaluate specific
projects, and to report back to the City Council its findings and recommendations related thereto,
as may be appropriate, as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto.
