HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 031369C - Council's Opposition To The Abolition Of The Doctrine Of Governmental Immunity - 03/13/1969wv)J9,1 1� RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock expressed its concern over the attempt to abolish the doctrine of governmental immunity to members of the Texas Legislature in 1968, and WHEREAS, the forces seeking to abolish the doctrine of governmental immunity are again attempting to either abolish or weaken such doctrine by passage of legislation in the 61st Texas Legislature; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock is opposed to the abolition of the doce°trine of governmental immunity. SECTION 2. THAT in the event the attempt to abolish the doctrine of governmental immunity cannot be completely defeated, the City Council of the City of Lubbock supports and urges the support of amendments to such legis- lation known as the Torts Claim Act, which will redefine officers, agents and employees named in such bill and further define the conditions of liability to exempting emergency conditions and change tits of liability to $25, 000. 00 per person and $50, 000. 00 per accident. n PASSED and Approved this 13th day of ar , 194 9.
