HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 041072C - Call Run-Off Election - Mayor, Council Member #1 & 4 - Held 5/2/72 - 04/10/19720WD 70C RESOLUTION WHEREAS., ;it appears that in the general election held in the City of Lubbock on April 8, 1972, 'I that no candidate for the offices of Mayor, Councilman Number 2 and Councilmah,j umber 4 received a majority of the votes cast for said offices in said election, and WHEREAS, at is provided by the Charter of the City of Lubbock that the City Council shall immediately; upon declaring the official results of the regular elect- ion, issue alcajl for a run-off election for the place to which no one was elected, NOW THEREFOkt: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT pursuant to the Charter provision of the City of Lubbock that a special election shall be and is hereby ordered to be held on the fourth Tuesday following April 8, 19'2, the same being May 2, 1972, for the purpose of electing a Mayor, Councilman!, urns er 2, and Councilman Number 4, for the City of Lubbock, and further ordering i that the names as shown below be placed on the ballot in said special election by virtue of their being heretofore certified as having received the highest number of votes cast for the places indicated at the regular election held ir. the City of iAib'bdek April 8, 1972: MAYOR Deaton Rigsby Morris W.
