RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, it has been determined by the City Council that the Can-
yon Area within the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas, should be de-
veloped for public open space called the Canyon Lakes Project; and,
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation has contracted with the
City for matching funds to aid in development of said project; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to acquire for the Canyon Lakes Project
fee simple title to the land hereinafter described, owned by G. B. Bowles;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has caused appraisal to be made of said
land, and the value and total damages, if any, to the owner, and all others
whose interest may appear, for fee simple title to said land has been apprais
ed and the Council finds the price offered to be fair and equitable; NOW
THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City of Lubbock acquire for the purposes of developing pub-
lic open space described as the Canyon Lakes Project fee simple title to the
land lying and being situated in Lubbock County, Texas, and described as
follows: to -wit:
A tract of land out's. -of Section 17, Block A, Lubbock
County, Texas, and being more .particularly described
by metes and bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at a point which bears 2 1,40. 73 feet North
and 1732. 12 feet West of the Southeast corner of Sec-
tion 17, Block A, Lubbock County, Texas;
THENCE South a distance of 361. 5 feet;
THENCE East a distance of 361. 5 feet;
THENCE South a distance of 164. 5 feet;
THENCE East a distance of 52.85 feet;
THENCE South along the West line of the Joe
Manicapelli tract, 320. 18 feet to a $/4" iron
pipe by fence corner post, the Southwest corner
of the Joe Manicapelli tract;
THENCE South 830481 East along the South line
of the Manicapelli tract and a fence line thereon,
124. 65 feet to a 1" iron pipe found, the Northwest
corner of a 16. 2 acre tract, and a corner of this
tract;
THENCE South, along the West side of the 16. 2
acre tract, 468. 50 feet to the Southeast corner
of this tract;
THENCE North 56 °57' West along the Northeast
lines of the Austin' -G. Morrow tract and the M.
F. Landwer tract 1244. 5 feet;
II THENCE North a distance of 646. 7 feet;
THENCE East a distance of 504. 75 feet to the
PLACE OF BEGINNING.
THAT the owner, G. B. Bowles, and all others, if any, whose inter-
est may appear, be offered through the Planning Department the amount es-
tablished as the fair market value and total damages, if any, for fee sim-
ple title to and acquisition of said land for the purposes herein stated, for the
use and benefit of the City of Lubbock, and unless accepted forthwith, the Cit.
Attorney is hereby authorized and instructed to institute condemnation pro-
ceedings for and on behale::° f the City of Lubbock acquire fee simple title
to said land, as hereinabove described, for pa, rposes.
