HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 062873A - Joint Project Extending FM 2641 - Highway Department - 06/28/1973OZF7514 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City Council concurs with the Commissioners Court of Lubbock County that the up -grading and paving of FM 2641 passing south of the Lubbock Municipal Airport is needed by the public for access to the new regional Airport which will be constructed adjacent to the proposed FM 2641 extension, and WHEREAS, it will be necessary to acquire right»of�way within the City of Lubbock for and on behalf of the State of Texas in this project to facilitate the construction of such extension, and WHEREAS, it has been made known to the City Council that the Texas High- way Commission will extend the said FM 2641 upon assurances received from the City of Lubbock and Commissioners Cpurt of Lubbock County, Texas, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the Texas Highway Department BE and is hereby assured that the City of Lubbock pledges its cooperation with Lubbock County and the Texas Highway Department on the joint project of extending FM 2641 and in consideration of the Texas Highway Department's assurance that it will construct the necessary exten- sion thereof, the City of Lubbock pledges that it will furnish by purchase or other- wise the necessary right-of-way from that portion of FM 2641 where it intersects U. S. Highway 87 East to Guava. Avenue, all within the City limit's of the City of Lubbock, following a general course from said U. S. 87 East along Regis Street to a point approximately 600 feet from the centerline of Quirt Avenue and its inter. section with Regis Street and thence in a southeasterly direction to a point inter- secting Kent Street approximately 400 feet west of the centerline of Guava Avenue and thence easterly to the centerline of said Guava Avenue, BE it further resolved that the City Council requests that the Texas Highway Department notify the City of Lubbock when the State of Texas shall need such right-of-way prior to the State=s need thereof in order to avoid any undue delay in the construction and extension of FM 2641. BE if further resolved that the Texas Highway Department is hereby requei to program the construction of this facility as soon as practical in order to avoid any undue hardship or expense to the general public.
