HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 031077B - Grant Application, SPAG - Criminal Justice Division- ICC High Seed Video Devices - 03/10/1977J:lb s WHEREAS, 'hhb;City of Lubbock wishes to participate in a South Plains ssociation of Governments project designed to improve law enforcement by ?grading the operating efficiency of regional law enforcement'. agencies with ie acquisition of new, improved highspeed video (CRT) Telecommunications erminals to replace the existing Teletype units and add new subscribers on exas' Law Enforcement Telecommunications Network (TLETN), and; WHEREAS, It is recognized that Criminal Justice Division funding is a- ailable to those units of government who agree to accept the lawfully promul ated rules and regulations for administration of grants so funded, and; WHEREAS, The City of Lubbock is desirous of obtaining Criminal Justic( livision funding to defray 8576 of the purchase price and the first year mainte ance cost of the new terminal equipment, and; WHEREAS, The City of Lubbock recognizes, that 1516 of the purchase rice and first year maintenance cost will amount to about ($1, 520), and that ubsequent years maintenance cost will not be funded by the South Plains As- ociation of Governments nor the Criminal Justice Division and that those laintenance costs must be borne entirely by the City of Lubbock, and that the ubsequent years maintenance cost is contractually guaranteed at ($105) per ionth, ($1, 260) per year until January 1982, and; WHEREAS, An agency receiving equipment under the project will be re- quired to provide a suitable site for the equipment to include a sturdy table o desk for the equipment to be placed upon and an electrical circuit providing for THREE (3) 115 VAC electrical outlets, within 5 feet of the physical loca- tion of the terminal, three -prong, grounded, type capable of providing up to 5 amperes of current to each of the three outlets; NOW THEREFORE: IT ]RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the City of Lubbock consents to and authorizes the South Plains ssociation of Governments to submit a grant application to the Criminal istice;-Division and to execute a contract with International Communications orporation (ICC) for the purchase and maintenance of ONE (or more) high- )eed video (CRT) terminal devices, and; KJ:lb BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT the City of Lubbock agrees to pay to 1516 cash commitment required topparticipate in the project and that the ity of Lubbock will cooperate with S. P. A. G. and International Communica- ons Corporation to set up a billing and payment procedure that will allow for smooth transition when the funded project expires after 12 months; and, trees to continue the operation of funded equipment, using locally budgeted Inds, for law enforcement or Criminal Justice purposes for the useful life of Le equipment. assed by the City Council this 10th day of March , 1977.
