RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, increased building cost and inflation have resulted in the require-
ment to ask for competitive bidding on amounts over THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($3,000) to be an unreasonably low figure and one which creates hardships and,
in some instances, resulting in no bids on small contracts to be let by cities,
NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City Council hereby supports legislation in the 1979 legislative
session of the State of Texas which would amend Article 1368a V.T.C.S. to raise
the amount of contracts which require competitive bidding from $3,000.00 to
$5,000.00, and
The legislators from the Lubbock area are hereby urged to support such
legislation.
Passed by the City Council this 11th day of January 1979.
