RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of Lubbock have for many years had a
great desire and need for a Municipal Court of Record to insure that justice is
obtained in the Municipal Courts of the City of Lubbock and that the taxpayers
of the City of Lubbock do not have to bear the financial burden of repetitive
jury trials in the County Courts of Lubbock County; and
WHEREAS, the Lubbock County Bar Association and local representatives to
the State Legislature, to -wit: the Honorable E.L. Short, State Senator, and the
Honorable Froy Salinas and the Honorable Nolan "Buzz" Robnett, State Representa-
tives, were all instrumental in achieving the creation and passage of legisla-
tion creating a Municipal Court of Record for the City of Lubbock; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS:
THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock and the people of the City of
Lubbock express their appreciation and gratitude to the Lubbock County Bar
Association, Senator E.L. Short and Representatives.Froy Salinas and Nolan
"Buzz" Robnett for their efforts on behalf of the City of Lubbock in the creation
and passage of legislation creating a Municipal Court of Record for the City of
Lubbock.
Passed by City Council this 24th day of May ,1979.
