ST, MAYOR KENT HANCE Toes i HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES WASHINGTON, D.C. 20515 November 13, 1979 Honorable Dirk West Mayor City of Lubbock Lubbock, TX 79401 Dear Dirk: Thank you for your recent correspondence and the enclosed resolution expressing the opposition of the Lubbock City Council to proposals to mandate participation in the social security system by those cur- rently covered under other public retirement systems. As you know, such legislation is currently in the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Social Security. It is my belief that such a proposal would be of no significant help to the social security system at this time; therefore, under present circumstances, I will oppose any such efforts. I appreciate receiving your views and hope you will feel free to contact me anytime I can be of assistance to you. Sincerely, Kent Hance KH:gho r6 Tml Npv 191979 u iy SENK 'ARV
