AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR MUZZLING OR KEEPING WITHIN
ENCLOSURES ANY DOG KNOWN TO BE VICIOUS .OR DANGEROUS; PRO
VIDING FOR WRITTEN NOTICE BY DIRE.CTOR OF PUBLIC HEALTH OR
CHIEF OF POLICE TO OWNER OR PERSON HAVING CONTROL OF SUCH
DOG; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
WHEREAS, persons owning or claiming dogs, which are dangerous to
the safety of persons, appear to be unmindful of the rights of the public to
use the streets and sidewalks unmolested by dogs of v.icious or dangerous
natures, and the City Commission finds 'that such dogs have and are on
occasion seriously interfering w~th normal mail and other deliveries to
resid~nces and the normal use of such publicways, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. If any dog within the City of Lubbock is known to be
vicious or dangerous to the safety of any person, and the owner or p erson
having control of such dog shall allow such dog to run at large after being
notified in writing by the Director of Public Health or the Chief of Police
to keep such dog within a secure enclosure unless such dog is adequately
muzzled, such owner or person having control of such dog shall be g uilty
of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not
exceeding Two Hundred Dollars ($ZOO). ~·
