HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2003-R0365 - Resolution Supporting Proposition 13 - 09_04_2003 (2)Resolution No. 2003-RO365 September 4, 2003 Item No. 28 RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the Mayor and City Council of the City of Lubbock hereby resolve support for and on behalf of the City of Lubbock, for Proposition 13 on the Constitutional Proposition Ballot to be considered by the voters of the State of Texas on September 13, 2003. Provisions in Proposition 13 would authorize a city, a county, or a junior college district to establish a property tax freeze on the resident homesteads of the disabled, the elderly, and their spouses. If Proposition 13 passes by approval of the citizens of Texas, then local taxing entities may grant the "freeze" after January 1, 2004. Said Proposition is deemed to be in the best interest of the citizens of Lubbock, Texas.
