HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 052070A - Canvass Of Votes In Special Run Off Election - 05_20_1970KJ: sw �1 RESOLUTION CANVASS OF VOTES IN SPECIAL 'RUN OFFS' ELECTION HELD, MAY 19, 1970 BE IT REMEMBERED THAT on the 20th day of May, 1970, the City Council of the City of Lubbock met at 10:00 o'clock A.M. in special session din compliance with - the charter provision, at the regular meeting place of the Council in the City Hall, in the City of Lubbock, with the following members present, to -wit: Mayor James H. Granberry, Councilmen Deaton Rigsby, Lonnie F. Hollingsworth, and Morris W. Turner On motion of Rigsby , seconded by Hollingsworth it is unanimously carried that the returns of the Special Run Off City election., held May 19, 1970 for the election of a Councilman for the term as provided by law, be opened and canvassed, and the results thereof declared therefrom; and said returns having been duly canvassed, it is found that the votes for the various candidates are as follows: CANDIDATES FOR COUNCILMAN VOTES RECEIVED: PLACE NO. 3 John E. (Jack) Baker 2, 123 Jerry L. McDonald 1, 907 IT IS THEREFORE FOUND, DECLARED AND CERTIFIED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the candidate indicated be- low received the highest number of votes for the office indicated in said election held May 19, 1970, and by virtue thereof, such candidate was duly elected to such office by the qualified voters of the City of Lubbock: COUNCILMAN NUMBER 3 JOHN E. (JACK) BAKER PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED ON MOTION OF Rigsby seconded by Hollingsworth this 20th day of May, 1970, by the follow- ing vote: COUNCILMEN VOTING "AYE": Mayor Granberry and Councilmen Deaton Rigsby, Lonnie F.
