CANVASS.OF VOTES -IN GENERAL. ELECTION

HELD APRIL 6,' 1954
BE IT REMEMBERED that on the 8th day of April,, 19549 the City Commis-
sion of the City of Lubbock met at ' 10 0`clock A. M. , in Special
Session at.the regular meeting place of the Commission in the City.Hall in the
City of Lubbock, 'with'the following members present; 'to-wit:
Murrell R. Tripp, Mayor, and Commissioners Harry Morris,
Hurley Carpenter, L. E. Davis, and Lucian Thomas.
On motion of Commissioner Da vis seconded by Commissioner
Morris , it was .unanimously carried that the returns of the
General City Elect on, held April 6, 1154 for the election of a. mayor and two
(2) commissioners for full terms :be opened and canvassed, and the results
thereof declared therefrom, and said returns having been duly canvassed, it is
found that the votes for the various candidates were as follows:

And it further appearing that said election was duly held as provided by law,
and that Murrell K. Trip received a majority:of 1,946 votes of the
total num er of votes cast for the office of Mayor, and Lennis W. "Baker
received a majority of 4 754 votes of the total number of votes cast for Com-
missioner of Place No. 1, an that S. S. Forrest received a majority of 4.784
votes of the total number of votes cast for Commiss Lone r.,of.Place No. 3, and
that each of said persons receiving such majorities was 'duly elected by the
qualified voters of the City of Lubbock:

IT IS, T HERE FORE, FOUND, DECLARED AND CERTIFIED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: That Murrell R. Tripp
was duly elected Mayor, and that Lennis W. Baker 'was ,duly elected Commis-
sioner for Place No. 1 and that S.' S. Forrest was duly elected Commissioner
for Place No. 3; and each of them was duly elected to said places as members
of the City Commission of the City of Lubbock at said Election held April 6,
1954.
AND IT IS SO ORDERED, THIS h DAY OF ,APRIL, 1954.
