HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 032449D - Adopt Local Taxi & Traffic Rules - 03/24/1949Aw� RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the existing traffic rules governing air transportation at the Lubbock Municipal Airport are deemed wholly inadequate and the Airport Board has recommended the adoption of the attached "Local Taxi and Traffic Rules" designed to properly and adequately regulate air transportation at the airport, THEREFORF, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK.- That the attached "Local Taxi. and Traffic Rules" marked Exhibit "Aft are hereby in all things adopted and made effective as of this date and shall hereafter govern and regulate all matters to which they pertain and the Aviation Director is hereby fully authorized to make such rules effective for the purpose of promoting safety at the Lubbock Municipal Airport. On Motion of Commissioner Hufstedler s seconded by Commissioner the foregoing Redolution was unanimously passed y an affirmative vote of the Cita Commission. All aircraft in motion on the ground shall be taxied at a safe and reasonable speed with due regard for other aircraft, persons ' and property. b. Aircraft awaiting take -off shall park at least 100t from runway in use and in a position so as to have a direct mew of aircraft approaching for landing. c. Taxiing aircraft shall conform to the taxi patterns as set forth on the *Taxi Chart" at tache d . II. TRAFFIC RULES a. All aircraft in flight below 1500* above the surface within a three mile radius of the air- port shall conform with left hand traffic and with the following rules and the traffic diagrams shown on the attached "Traffic Pattern Chart.'t b. No take -off shall be started except from the end of the runway in use. c, No take -off shall be started until the pilot has ascertained that he will not interfere with air- craft maneuvering for landing. d, All aircraft taking off, except scheduled air carrier, shall proceed straight ahead to an altitude of 5001 above the surface, level off and execute .a 90 degree left turn when outside the airport boundary, e. kircraft intending to remain in the traffic pattern shall continue to climb to traffic altitude of 800* above the surface after the first 900 turn and shall thereafter follow the pattern as set forth on the attached *Traffic Pattern Chart." f. All aircraft, except scheduled air carrier, leaving the traffic pattern shall climb to traffic altitude of 800' above the surface after the first 90 degree turn, ° and shall then leave traffic by doing a 45 de- gree turn to the right, g, All aircraft, except scheduled air carrier, entering the traffic pattern shall do so at an angle of 45 degrees midway on the downwind log at an altitude of 800* above the surface, Taxi and Traffic Rules - 2 h. 'Aircraft entering the traffic pattern shall eaeercise extreme caution so as not to cause aircraft already in the pattern to deviate frolu their course. i. Scheduled air carrier and heavy aircraft having flight characteristics ohich make the above pro cedtres impractical shall be flown at the some altitude and shall conform to the curcular pattern. ehown on the attached "Traffic Pattern Chart*" Such aircraft: i. May eater the circular pattern at any point but shall fly at least a 90 degree sigment of the circular pattern or a base leg before landing. 2# May depart traffic in a straight climb after take -off or may depart the circular pattern at any point. j. The traffic direction shall be as indicated by the tetrahedron. If a calm condition exists all landings and take -offs shall be 'made to the northeast. k. These rules may be deviated from when an immediate emergency presents itself that requires such deviation in the interest of safety.
