For His Act Of Heroism - 07/14/1966WHEREAS: at 10:10 PH, July 2, 1966, the Lubbock Fire Department. :d an alarm in the 1700 block of Main Street for a hot electric wire i the ground, and WHEREAS: J. C. Shipman, an employee of the city electric department, epartment, ,empting to cut loose the hot wire and came in contact with it and sub-- ,ly fell over the guard rail at the top of the ladder, and WHEREAS: Capt. Carl W. Goldwater, of the Lubbock Fire Department id that Shipman was in trouble and could be fatally electrocuted, at risk own safety,, 'Climbed into the. ladder truck and pulled the truck and L away from contact with the hot electric lines, and WHEREAS: Capt. Goldwater at the risk of his own safety and by quick ig and courage in action did save the life of J. C. Shipman. NOW THEREFORE: be it resolved that the Mayor and the City Council City of Lubbock do hereby commend Capt. Carl W. Goldwater for this act iism, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that this resolution be made a part of the 1 city records of The City of'Lubbock and also a part of the personnel of Capt. Carl W. Golowater. at Lubbock, Texas this 14th day of July, 1966. abotal dtZ
