SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
May 22, 2017
5:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Lubbock,Texas met in special session on the 22nd of May,2017,
at the Honey Elementary School Cafeteria,3615 86th Street,Lubbock, Texas at 5:30 p.m.
5:42 P.M. CITY COUNCIL CONVENED

Present: Mayor Daniel M. Pope; Mayor Pro Tem Latrelle Joy; Council Member Karen
Gibson; Council Member Jeff Griffith; Council Member Steve Massengale; Council
Member Shelia Patterson Harris; City Manager W. Jarrett Atkinson; City Secretary
Rebecca Garza; City Attorney Chad Weaver
Absent: Council Member Juan A. Chadis
Note: City Council addressed agenda items in the following order:
1. Regular Agenda
1. 1. A town hall discussion concerning the Lubbock economy,employment, core services, including
but not limited to utilities, water,wastewater,development and redevelopment,public safety, crime,
streets and transportation,community services, facilities, infrastructure,parks and recreation,and
other modes of delivery of governmental services; budgetary matters, and the operations,
communications, programs,and personnel of the City of Lubbock.No action will be taken by the
Lubbock City Council.
Council Member Steve Massengale, with assistance from Police Chief Greg Stevens,engaged in a
Questions&Answers(Q&A) session with citizens of Lubbock,mainly pertaining to crime and law
enforement concerns. Jon Caspell,Assistant Chief of Police, also gave comments and answered
questions from Citizens.
7:09 P.M. CITY COUNCIL ADJOURNED
There being no further business to come before Council,the meeting was adjourned.
