SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING

The City Council of the City of Lubbock, Texas met in special session on the 8th day
of May, 2007, in the Banquet Hall, Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, 1501 Mac Davis
Lane, Lubbock, Texas at 7:00 P. M.
8:10 P.M. CITY COUNCIL CONVENED
Banquet Hall, 1501 Mac Davis Lane, Lubbock, Texas
Present: Mayor David A. Miller; Mayor Pro Tern Jim Gilbreath; Council
Member Linda DeLeon; Council Member Phyllis Jones; Council
Member Floyd Price; Lee Ann Dumbauld, City Manager; Anita
Burgess, City Attorney; and Rebecca Garza, City Secretary
Absent: Council Member Gary O. Boren and Council Member John Leonard
Mayor Miller convened the meeting at 8:10 p.m.
1. REGULAR AGENDA
1.1 Participation in North and East Lubbock Community Development
Corporation Community Champion Award Banquet.
City Council attended and participated in discussions during the banquet of
the North and East Lubbock Community Development Corporation (the
"CDC"), in which there was discussion as to the creation, facilitation and
promotion of development in North and East Lubbock, and where the
following occurred:
Welcome & Introduction of Master of Ceremonies was given by Velma
Lethridge, who is the Fundraising Chair of the North and East Lubbock
Community Development Corporation.
The invocation was led by Minister Ron Guzman of Parkway Drive Church
of Christ.
Dinner was then served, catered by Honeychild, Inc.
After dinner, Thomas Harris, III, Program Manager for the North & East
Lubbock CDC recognized and thanked the various sponsors.
Irasema Velasquez, Board Chair for the North and East Lubbock CDC,
gave a presentation on the mission and accomplishments of the
organization.
Isaac G. Garnett, Executive Director of the North and East Lubbock CDC,
introduced the special guests for the evening. Mayor David Miller then
introduced the Keynote Speaker of the evening, Chancellor Kent Hance of
Texas Tech University. Chancellor Hance gave comments.
Irasema Velasquez, Board Chair, gave a tribute and presentation to United
Supermarkets, thanking them for their support.
Matt Bumstead, Co -President of United Supermarkets, Ltd., accepted the
honors and gave comments.
Mayor David Miller gave closing remarks.
9:10 P. M. COUNCIL ADJOURNED
There being no further business to come before Council, Mayor Miller
adjourned the meeting.
