EMERGENCY CITY COUNCIL MEETING

The City Council of the City of Lubbock, Texas met in emergency session on the
21st day of September, 2005, in the City Council Chambers, first floor, City Hall,
162513th Street, Lubbock, Texas at 7:30 A. M.

Present: Mayor Marc McDougal, Mayor Pro Tem Tom Martin, Council
Member Gary O. Boren, Council Member Linda DeLeon, Council
Member Jim Gilbreath, Council Member Phyllis Jones, Council
Member Floyd Price
Absent: No one
1. Resolution No. 2005-RO433 continuing and affirming the Mayor's
Declaration of Disaster to take evacuees of Hurricane Rita and
affirming the Mayor's authorization of expenditures of up to $650,000
(to be taken from General Funds and reimbursed by FEMA) for
shelter, clothing, food and other emergency items.
RESOLUTION NO.2005-RO433
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Lubbock has declared a state of disaster for
the City of Lubbock by proclamation on the 19`h day of September, 2005 to preserve life
and property due to the imminent approach of Hurricane Rita upon the coastal cities of
Texas; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the state of disaster still exists;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the state of disaster for the City of Lubbock declared by the
Mayor on the 201h day of September, 2005, is hereby confirmed and continued; and
SECTION 2. THAT the Mayor's authorization of expenditures of up to
$650,000.00 from the General Fund (to be reimbursed by federal emergency funds) for
housing, food, clothing, and other emergency items for care of the victims is confirmed.
Passed by the City Council this 21" day of September, 2005.

Ken Olson, Emergency Management Coordinator, briefed Council on the
status of arrangements being made to receive Hurricane Rita evacuees.
Motion was made by Council Member Gilbreath, seconded by Mayor Pro
Tem Martin to pass Resolution No. 2005-RO433 as recommended by staff.
Motion carried: 7 Ayes, 0 Nays.
7:35 A. M. COUNCIL ADJOURNED
There being no further business to come before Council, Mayor
McDougal adjourned the meeting.
