SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
August 17, 1998
10:00 A. M.
The City Council of the City of Lubbock, Texas met in special session on the 17th
day of August, 1998, in Committee Room 103, City Hall, 1625 13th Street,
Lubbock, Texas at 10:00 A. M.
10:20 A. M. CITY COUNCIL CONVENED
Present: Councilmember Alex "Ty" Cooke, Councilmember Victor
Hernandez, Councilmember Marc McDougal, Councilmember David
Nelson, Councilmember T. J. Patterson; Bob Cass, City Manager;
Anita Burgess, City Attorney; and Kaythie Darnell, City Secretary
Absent: Mayor Windy Sitton and Mayor Pro Tern Max Ince
Councilmember David Nelson called the meeting to order at 10:20
A. M.
( 1.) Presentation on City of Lubbock Economic Development by Bob
Cass, City Manager, and Kevin Walker, Business Liaison Officer.
Bob Cass, City Manager, presented information pertaining to the grant
planning application.
Dr. David Schmidly, Texas Tech University, presented information
pertaining to Texas Tech University and the research efforts.
Dr. Schmidly presented the Mesonet Program.
Jerry Casstevens, Executive Director of South Plains Association of
Governments (SPAG), provided information pertaining to the revolving
loan fund and the 15 counties comprising SPAG.
Councilmember Nelson adjourned the meeting at 10:53 A. M.
