Bureau of Lubbock. Inc.. to fill two Director positions that were declined
Tom Reed, Eddie Dixon, Bob Greenhill, Bill Prather, Marcy Lawless, Craig Wells,
' Penny Morin, Matt Malouf, and Don Caldwell were appointed to the Convention
and Tourism Bureau Board of Directors at the July 28, 1994, Council meeting.
Marcy Lawless and Matt Malouf declined appointment, leaving two unfilled
directors positions.
Motion was made by Councilmember Cooke, seconded by Councilmember Ince to
appoint Leroy Montoya and Jerry Stevens to fill the two vacant director positions
on the Convention and Tourism Bureau Board of Directors, with one- two-, and
three-year terms being determined by drawing lots. Motion carried: 5 Yeas; 0
Nays.
(4.) Consider a change in the proposed Articles of Incorporation of the
Convention and Tourism Bureau of Lubbock. Inc.
The Articles of Incorporation for the Convention and Tourism Bureau of Lubbock,
Inc., currently being formed have been amended slightly. The changes are minor
and basically provide specific elasticity in the Articles of Incorporation to allow the
Council to appoint a director living in the County of Lubbock to serve on this
Board.
This elasticity is provided because there are individuals who have businesses within
the City who have a great concern in the tourism and convention services but
reside outside of the city limits. It is felt that this type of expertise should be
available to serve on this Corporation's Board of Directors.
In addition, it is to be noted that tourism and convention events held outside of the
city limits within the County may nevertheless have a director bearing on the
economic well being of the hotel/motel industry within the City since many of
these business visitors will make reservations in hotels or motels located within the
City.

County."
The bylaws have been amended in Section 2.02 to provide that Directors shall be
