77-36-267-675 The City Council considered the passage of an ordinance on first reading abandoning and closing
(41) a portion of the right-of-way at the "Y" intersection of Indiana Avenue and Indiana Drive. The
following letter was received from Chris W. Cox in regard to this ordinance:
July 7, 1977
Mr. Tom Nivens
Right of Way Agent
City of Lubbock
Lubbock, Texas
Re: Property contiguous with Tract U to the North
Dear Mr. Nivens:
Pursuant to our telephone conversation advising me of the council's desire to deed the re-
ferenced property and the triangular shape property to the North of the aforementioned property,
I wish to inform you of my desire to only have the referenced property deeded to me. As I explain
ed to you initially, the development of an office building complex on Tract U does not depend upor
my owning the property contiguous with and immediately north of Tract U. However, I am desirous
of owning the referenced property as it would allow me to offer a more attractively landscaped
approach to the office building complex. I would be most willing to landscape and maintain the
referenced property in a manner superior to the present.
As the triangular property is not contiguous with my property, I do not see how it would
be of any benefit to me or the contemplated improvements on Tract U.
I am convinced that the city will be pleased with what I envision for Tract U and the referer
ed Tract, and I would appreciate your considering deeding me only the property contiguous with
Tract U.
Thank you for your cooperation regarding this matter.
