Home My WebLink AboutMinutes - City Council - Special - 8/27/19764 AUG 2 7 SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 27, 1976 The City Council of the City of Lubbock, Texas, met at 10:15 A.M. in the regular meeting place at City Hall, the following members thereof being present, to -wit: Mayor Roy Bass, Councilman Dirk West, Councilwoman Carolyn Jordan, Councilman Alan Henry, Councilman Bill McAlister, City Attorney Fred 0. Senter, Jr., and City Secretary -Treasurer Treva Phillips. Absent: None 76-35-343-723 Motion was made by Councilman West, seconded by Councilwoman Jordan, motion carried, Mayor (1) Bass, Councilmen West, Jordan, Henry and McAlister voting Yea, none voting Nay that effective September 1, 1976, Larry J. Cunningham be named City Manager of the City of Lubbock. 76-35-343-724 The City Council considered Workmen's Compensation Program and Fire Insurance Program. Sterling (2) Miller, Director of Finance, appeared and introduced Don Sikes and Bill Deal, with Employers Insurance Co., representing the Texas Municipal League Plan. The workman's compensation in- surance program with TML was explained, outlining services to be received, and premiums to be paid by the City. Mr. Miller stated he had talk with Mr. Marion Sanford who felt "this was the way for the City to go." Bob Shannon, Director of Safety of the City of Lubbock also appeared, and gave information he had received from the cities of San Antonio, Dallas and Houston in regard to Workmen's Compensation Insurance. It was the consensus of the Council that the TML plan is best, that the additional money needed will be taken into consideration in the budget for 1976-77. Figures on Fire Insurance program were not available at the time of the meeting - no action was taken.
