The City Council considered joint City -County health services and the County Fire Service Contract.
Dr. Norma Porres, Dr. Eugene Brown and Rev. Sam Laine appeared in regard to joint programs,
primarily in the area of health and medical services.
After considerable discussion, motion was made by Councilwoman Jordan, seconded by Councilman
West to keep the Health facility open through December, 1975, with statement sent to County
Commissioners and Hospital District for the amount of $99,550.
Vaughn Hendrie, reporter for the Avalanche Journal, requested clarification of this motion --
asking if leaving the clinic open through December 31st is dependent on the County Commissioners'
putting up 25% of City -County share. Councilwoman Jordan stated that no such qualification
was intended. Mayor Bass read from a letter from Judge Shaw stating "the County will pay 25%
of the local City -County share of the City County Health Department budget for October, November
and December of 1975, with the understanding that its percentage participation after that will
depend on a resolution of all joint programs including fire calls". Councilwoman Jordan's reply
was "My motion was keep the clinic open and send them a bill".
This motion carried by the following vote: Mayor Bass, Councilmen West, Jordan, Henry and
Campbell voting Yea, none voting Nay.

at the present 25% County - 75% City percentage.
5. The Lubbock County Commissioners' Court will agree to approve a $55,000.00 per year
contribution by the Lubbock County Hospital District to the Health Department Budget
on a year to year basis to be terminated when the Lubbock County Hospital District
opens the new County Hospital.
6. Lubbock County will pay $300.00 to the City of Lubbock for each fire and emergency call
by the Lubbock fire Department in rural Lubbock County."

$99,550, and request the County Commissioners not to veto inflationary increment.
(3) The City Council can not realistically accept proposal on fire calls, but will be
