John Mallory, representing Downtown Lubbock, Inc., appeared and presented
the following resolution requesting that ticketing of cars on Saturdays be
ended on a trial basis.
June 12, 1975
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, on Saturdays in Downtown Lubbock there has been ample parking
available on the streets with very few office workers parking on the streets,
and since our customers are very irritated when they receive parking tickets
on Saturdays when there are practically no cars on the streets, it is the
opinion of the Downtown Lubbock, Inc. board of directors that the ticketing
of automobiles parked Saturdays on Downtown Lubbock streets is a costly effort
for the City and for the merchants as well.
THEREFORE, the board, meeting today, June 12, 1975, in a special meeting,
requests that the ticketing Saturdays of parked cars in the downtown area
be eliminated for a trial period of at least six months to determine whether
such a program should be adopted.
Signed /s/ John B. Mallory
Vice President
After consideration of all information presented, motion was made by Council-
man West, seconded by Councilman Henry, motion carried, Mayor Bass, Councilmen
west, Jordan, Henry and Campbell voting Yea, none voting Nay to grant this
request and instruct the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance to this effect
for consideration at the July 10 City Council meeting.
