The Gov. payment will be the same if we plant 65% of the allotment or 100% of the allotment, which will be roughly 70 acres more than we planted this pas season. In planting more cotton it will be necessary that we have more water. We would be willing to pL in an irrigation well on the south "80". The expense of this would run us around $4000.00 to $4500.00. In turn, we would like a five year extension to our present lease. This would be helpful to us in our planning and equipment purchasing. Also, the extra irrigation water will k a must. Please consider this and let us know what you think of it. Yours very truly, /s/ Jack Henry Jack Louden and Jack Henry The City Council considered the request of Mr. Jack Henry and Mr. Jack Louden that they be allowed, at their own expense, to drill an irrigation well on City owned land, south of the Air- port and that a five-year extension be granted on the lease as set out in the above letter. Motion was then made by Councilman Hollingsworth, seconded by Councilman Turner, motion carried, Mayor Rogers and Councilmen Granberry, Hollingsworth, Rigsby, and Turner voting Yea, none voting Nay, that this request be denied and that the Airport Board look into the possibility of taking bids at the expiration of this current lease, for releasing of this agricultural land.
