(3) Jones said Yes.
I' Mayor: Let me have it. For the record, in work session the other day, it was the pleasure of
i the Council to have a straw vote on the Urban Renewal question; whether the existing project
should or should not be expanded and it is strictly a straw vote and regardless of how the vote
comes out it will not effect the existing Urban Renewal Project. This is just for the purpose
of getting a feeling from the citizens. This will have no binding on this Council or any further
Council. It is simply a straw vote similar to the one taken eight or ten years ago on the dog
question. No legal bases at all. And we ask or I ask the City Attorney's Office to come up
with some verbage for such a straw ballot and he suggested that it be headed Straw Vote - For or
Against The Expansion of Urban Renewal Programs within the City of Lubbock beyond the limits of
the existing project.
I move that this be made a part of the second ballot. Motion was made by Councilman Granberry
and seconded by Councilman Diekemper, motion carried, Mayor Rogers and Councilmen Granberry,
