Re: Change Order No. 7 Lubbock Water Treatment Plant
Dear Sam:
Two air compressors were installed in the pipe gallery of the Lubbock Water Treatment Plant to pro-
vide compressed air for the plant instrumentation and control system. Due to the high humidity in
the pipe gallery, a considerable amount of water accumulates in the air receivers and the load
on the air drying unit downstream from the compressors is increased. It is essential that air
entering the instrumentation and control system by absolutely dry or considerable damage could
result. The installation of aftercoolers on the compressors would remove a large percentage of
the moisture in the air before reaching the air receivers and reduce the possibility of moisture
entering the Control system. Ingersoll-Rand Model BG-10'air cooled aftercoolers with automatic
condensate traps are the recommended units and the cost is $512.00 for the two units. The after -
coolers can be installed by City forces.
Leakage through the roof slab over the pipe gallery from rain has been experienced. A test patch
of Light -Fast Clear Sealer manufactured by Hooker Chemical Company has been applied on this slab
and appears to be a satisfactory material to use for sealing the roof slab. Sealing of the roof
of the clear well with this same material would prevent any leakage into the treated water and
should prevent any spalling or deterioration of the slab as has occurred on other similar struc-
tures in this area. It is estimated that 300 gallons of sealer would be required. The cost is
$4.05 per gallon for a total material cost of $1,215.00. This material can also be applied by
City forces.
Fire extinguishers in the buildings were not provided in the construction contract and are recom-
mended. The following extinguishers are recommended:
1.- 2-3/4 lb. dry BC Type @ $10.00 ea.
2 - 4 Lb. dry ABC Type @ $20.48 ea.
2 - 2-1/2 lb. CO2Type @ $25.00 ea.
3 - 5 lb. CO Type @ $31.15 ea.
Total cost for the above extinguishers is $194.41.
The total cost for the three items described above is $1,921.41.

Gentlemen:
It would be greatly appreciated if you would give me permission to keep a building on the
property belonging to Don Holton's Circle Gulf Service Station, 6208 Avenue H (on the Tahoka
traffic circle). This building is approximately ten foot'by twelve foot, outside measurement,
and I will see to it that said building will meet the building requirements. The building is on
skids, is not a permanent fixture, and will not enhance the value of the property. I will move
the building upon twenty-four hour notice at such time as the City or State desires to use the
property, at my own expense and at no cost to the City or State.
The building will be used for an office for keeping the records of my seed and trucking busi-
ness, and as I do business with the Holton's Circle Gulf in servicing my trucks, it would be con-
venient to both Mr. Holton and myself to have the building upon this property. There will be no
changes or alterations madeto the property and I will see to it that all weeds, grass and trash is
kept off of the premises.
