Gentlemen:
Brown & Root, Inc. has examined the bids publicly opened in your City Hall at 10:00 A.M. Central
Standard Time on January 14, 1964-for the Holly Avenue Power Station, Unit One Cooling Tower. Bids
were received from the Marley Company, and Slough-DeFlon-Inc.
The tabulated prices and evaluation for the items submitted for bid -are shown on the attached
tabulation.
After careful examination and evaluation of the two proposals we submit the following comments
and recommendations.
The Marley Company submitted a Cooling Tower with a low static -head to take advantage of the evaluation
factors that were stated in the specifications. Both the three cell tower and the four cell tower
are designed and selected in accordance with the specifications.
Slough-DeFlon submitted Cooling Tower selections in accordance with the specifications. However,
upon analysis of their proposal and the specification data, it will be necessary to provide for
the installation of more piping on the tower than is required by the Marley cooling towers.
On an evaluated basis we recommend purchase of the Marley Cooling Tower under Proposal "B" for the
following quoted prices.
Item I Material FOB Plant Site .$119,300.00
(One Hundred nineteen thousand three hundred dollars)
Item II Erection of Cooling Tower (with 6 months option) $20,725-:00
