Attention Mr. Ben Weeks,

Dear Mr. Weeks,
Re: Building Permit No. 2354
Ira Wallace, PO 3-8348
209 Linden Avenue,
Lubbock 3, Texas.
We are requesting that we be allowed to build the garage addition to our home at 209 Linden Avenue,
Lubbock, Texas. This part of town was just recently brought into the City Limits and there is
no paving or curbs or sidewalks within a half a mile of our property. Therefore we are requesting
that this addition to our property be allowed without our putting in any walks, curbs or paving,
as we feel sure that the City of Lubbock will be paving that area soon and we would not know just
where the line will run for any of the abovementioned items. We desperately need a garage as we
do not have any protection whatever for our car and between the hail and marauding animals and
other events we are going to have to have a new paint ,lob on a car that we purchased just this last
February 26th, 1963 which was brand new. We would sincerely appreciate your immediate attention
to this matter as we do need to get a garage for our car.
Yours truly
Mrs. Ira Wallace.
Mrs. Ira Wallace appeared before the City Commission requesting waiver of the sidewalk requirements
at 209 Linden as a condition of her building a garage. After consideration of this request motion
was made by Commissioner McLarty, seconded by Commissioner Alderson, motion carried, Mayor Strong and
Commissioners Alderson, O'Mara, Simpson, and McLarty voting Yea, none voting Nay, to GRANT this
inquest for waiver of the sidewalk requirements.

AVINGER LUMBER COMPANY
June 3, 1963
The Honorable Members of the City Commission
City of Lubbock
City Hall
Lubbock, Texas
Gentlemen:
I have a most grievous flooding situation at my place of business at 515 East 34th Street,
Lubbock. This is due to the flatness of the land, the railroad track that encircles all but the
south side of the property and the fact that the -sewer inlet at East 34th and Globe is higher than
the surrounding terrain. Every time it rains, the water stands on the property, endangering the
houses and material and must be pumped away.
Mr. Jim Connally, of the City Engineering Department, has completed a study that indicates
the situation can be corrected by the construction of a sewer tap on Globe Avenue that will open
at a point approximately 275 feet -north of the present sewer inlet. The estimated cost of
construction is $1500.00.
It is requested that the City undertake the construction of this tap at an early date at the
city's expense in view of the fact that the situation has deteriorated and has become intolerable
since the installation of the sewer at 34th and Globe.
Most sincerely,
RS:wb Rhyne Simpson
The City Commission TABLED the request as set out in the above letter of Mr. Simpson for further
consideration.
