April 22, 1963
We of the Downtown Lubbock, Inc. appreciate genuinely the cooperation of the City Commission
in arranging for enforcement of the city ordinance making parking meter spaces available to the
general public during business hours by prohibiting all day "meter feeding".
As a part of the advance publicity and public education campaign to inform the citizens of this
change in policy, we respectfully suggest that consideration be given to the placing of a small
sticker on the meter or meter post, as soon as possible.
Such a sticker might be worded something like this:
"On and after May 5 * it shall be unlawful for any person to use this parking space
continuously for more than 120 minutes, between 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. except
Sundays, and holidays officially designated by the City Commission.
By authority Section 18-105 of the City of Lubbock Code."
* This effective date to be designated by the City Commission.
Our Downtown Merchants' Association will be glad to furnish these stickers, of pressure sensitive
material, or gummed material, if you wish.
Yours cordially,
