Lublock, Teas
Genlemen:
'The Lubboc r1otJ. amd Hte3. ownexs and opexatos were informed about 30 days ago of a city ordinance
thatwas passed last June placing our pools in a semi-public status. We have carefully evaluared this
ordinance and we eei that it wil cause considerably mo:e troubi.e and hard feelings than it will be
worrYc to tlze community. :de are a1 more than willing, and have been for a number o years, to Eceep au
pools in a desirable condition or our oan use, and that of our guests. This zs juse another phase o:E
the maei that must be done to stay in business, and have sanitar-y conditions for our guests-just as
our rooms, grouncs, et. nust be cept clean.
Our pools are privatly owned, maintained, and tester dai.ly a our a,n e:pense. The public i.s not
allowed in our pools for obvious reans. The OOS are not a money making thing for us; Chey are just
a parasite on our business-much as our parlcing lots and teevision sets; and are simply an accommodation
orcur guests.
We are al). confi.dent of the integrzty and air dealings of tha present mayor, city manager, and the
enCixe ci.y canisson, but this ordinance wi1 ive on aftr the present c.Cy coamiission. This is our
grave concern.
We have alI had dealings wi.li the City-CounCy Health Center regazding poo3.s and have ound tnem to s
a little hasy, and quite often trying to mae a zounain out of a moie iiill. We da not.nt to be
placeci at their mey.
WE are:mre than zeady to cooprae and do anything o improve our operabons, and above all, iceeg every-
thing%saniary at al times. I ielieve you wiil ind us a.l very reasonable and ready to correct any-
rhi.ng that acuaZly needs correcing. However, toe eel tat thi.s ordi.nancery create situations in
ehe uure that wi11 be impracical and impossible at the ti.me. Anytti.ng that needs to e done o
correct ay unsaniary condiions have aays been don and wzl conti.nue to be done without a city
ordinance.
The Lubbock Motel. and mel Association are asking the CiCy cozssion ra revise the swimming pool
ordinance and delete the folbwin:
