SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
June 19, 2019
7:30 A.M.
The City Council of the City of Lubbock,Texas met in special session on the 19th of June,2019,
at the Red Zone Cafe,3602 Slide Road, Lubbock,Texas at 7:30 a.m.

Present: Mayor Daniel M. Pope; Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Griffith; Council Member Latrelle Joy;
Council Member Shelia Patterson Harris; City Manager W. Jarrett Atkinson, City
Secretary Rebecca Garza; City Attorney Chad Weaver; Deputy City Manager Bill
Howerton
Absent: Council Member Juan A. Chadis; Council Member Randy Christian-, Council
Member Steve Massengale
Now City Council addressed agenda i1eins in the following order:
1. Regular Agenda
1. 1. A discussion concerning the Lubbock economy, employment, core services, including but not
limited to utilities, water, wastewater, development and redevelopment, public safety, crime, streets
and transportation,community services, facilities, infrastructure, parks and recreation,and other
modes of delivery of governmental services; budgetary matters, and the operations,
communications, programs, and personnel of the City of Lubbock.No action will be taken by the
Lubbock City Council.
Mayor Daniel M. Pope gave opening remarks.
Council members and staff members, engaged in a Questions& Answers(Q&A) session with the
citizens, in attendance, on various topics including the following: weeds, smart meters, game
rooms, new citizens, sign language needs, Ports to Plains, alleys, Citizens Tower's parking,new
Fire Chief, new Police Chief, street paving and lack of, Homelessness Committee, LBK Alert,
potholes, street maintenance, and budget workshops.
Mayor Pope gave closing remarks and thanked the Red Zone Cafe.

8:38 A.M. CITY COUNCIL ADJOURNED
There being no further business to come before Council.. Mayor Pope adjourned the
meeting.
The Rine 19, 2019 Special City Cowicil Meeting iniiiutes were approved by the City Council on the 23rd
day of Aily, 2019.
