Honorable Mayor and
City Commission
Gentlemen:
In keeping with the verbal discussion of your meeting on March 24, 1950
it is evident that the Lubbock Bus Company will be called upon to extend
service to some of the newly acquired additions to the City of Lubbock.
On January 11, 1950 we submitted to you a letter stating that these
e a extensions would necessitate a fare increase to keep the company on a
esolutic: profit basis.
a t Page
230 As you can see from the attached financial statement as of February 28,
1950, the total profit for the year to date is $428.91. This figure does
a ut - not reflect income tax. Officers salaries have been kept to a bare minimum,
i zinngg of a Manager and a Secretary.
Rate
increase. In requesting a fare increase we do not propose to change the present
children or adult cash fare. We ask only to increase the token rate
from 5 for 35 cents to 3 for 25 cents.
This change in rate will affect only about 60% of the present riders. This
would mean an increase of only 1 1/3 ¢ per person, but would, on a volume
basis materially improve the position of the company.
Very truly yours
LUBBOCK BUS COMPANY
