August 26, 1949
The City Commission of the City of Lubbock, Texas, met at 11 A.M. in
recessed regular session, recessed from Regular Meeting of August 25,
1949, at the regular meeting place in the City Hall, the following mem-
bers thereof being present, to -wit:
'vlayor W.H. Rodgers, Commissioners W.B. Price, Clarence K. Whiteside,
E. K. Hufstedler, Jr., City Attorney Vaughn E. Wilson, City Manager
Steve Matthews.
Absent: Commissioner John.Spikes.
Motion by Commissioner Hufstedler, seconded by Commissioner Price, carried
unanimously, Ordinance No. 934 passed second and final reading.
ORDINANCE NO. 934
AN ORDINANCE SETTING THE TAX RATE AND IE VYING A TAX UPON ALL PROPERTY
SUBJECTTO TAXATION WITHIN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, FORTHE YEAR 19499 AP-
PORTIONING SAID LEVY AMONG THE VARIOUS FUNDS AND ITEMS FOR WHICH REVENUE
MUST BE RAISED, LEVYING AN OCCUPATION TAX UPON ALL OCCUPATIONS TAXABLE AND
FIXING THE TIME IN WHICH SAID TAXES BE PAID, AND ASSESSING PENALTY AND INT-
EREST FOR THE NON-PAYMENT OF SUCH TAXES WITHIN THE TIME SET.
Request having been received from property owners in McMillard and Maddox
y�P4 Additions for bus service, after consideration of the request by the Citp
Commission, motion was made by Commissioner Hufstedler, seconded by Commi-
ssioner Price, carried unanimously, that the Lubbock Bus Company be requested
to extend City bus service to this property, effective December 1, 1949.
Motion.by Commissioner Price, seconded by Commissioner Hufstedler, carried
unanimously, to instruct the City Attorney to draft amendment to the Police
Department ordinances, for consideration by the City Commission, wherein.tash
bonds are to be accepted by the Police Department. '
Lonnie Houston Johnson appeared before the City Commission in regard to his
Oaving been arrested by the Police Dept. in con4ection with a traffic violgt4on;
there was discussion of Police Department policibies, but no action was taken.
No further business coming up for consideration, the Ivity (,ommission recessed
to meet August 31, 19499 at 1:30 P.M.
