Sept. 16, 1948.
The City Commission of the City of Lubbock, Texas, met at 10 A.M.
in recessed regular session, recessed from Remzlar meeting of September
91 1948, at the regular meeting place in the City Hall, the following
members thereof being present, to -wit:
Mayor W.H. Rodgers, Commissioners Clarence K. Whiteside, W.B. Price,
John Spikes, E.K. Hufstedler, Jr., City Attorney Vaughn E. Wilson,
City I'lanager M.R. Smith,Jr. , City Secretary Lavenia Williams.
Absent: None.
Motion by 'Iommissioner Huf st edd•.er , seconded by Commissioner Price,
carried unanimously, to accept Resigns tion of John P. Ruhmann, as
City Erg ineer , effective September 15, 1948.
Motion by Commissioner Hufstedler, seconded by Commissioner Price,
carried unanimously, to accept recommendation of the City -Manager,
M.R. Smith,Jr. , to appoint R.L. Oldham as Acting City Engineer,
effective this date, at a salary of $350.00 per month, plus Cost -of -
Living bonus.
Jack D,-,vis, member of Lubbock Insurance Exchange, G.A. Sanford, member
Chamber of Commerce Fire Prevention Board, Dick Turner, Chairman
local Fire Prevention Committee, and others, appeared before the City
Commission and presented pro; osed "ire Prevention Ordinance for
consideration by the City Oommission. This ordinance was taken under
advisement.
No further business coming up for consideration, the City Commission
adjourned.
