WHITESIDE, Mayor ATTEST: LAVENIA LOWE, City Secretary APPROVED: Vaughn E. Wilson, City Attorney LUBBOCK BAG COMPANY 304-10 Avenue L Lubbock, Texas Mr. Roy L. Grimes C i Ly Engineer Lubbock, Texas Dear Mr. Grimes: With reference to the blind alley that lies between the property that we occupy, Lots 6, 5, 7 and 8, William Tubbs Addition, and the vacant lot which we,own, Lots 9, 10, 11 and 12, Block 8, William Tubbs Addition, we figure there to be in this alley directly behind our building which we could use approximately 3,440 feet. In the small triangle running parallel with the railroad track and due North of our Lot 9 there is approximately 2,910 feet which we could also use. Thismakes a total of 6,350 square feet. We would be willing to purchase this property from the City. In doEng this we would be in a position to improve this property by building a fire wall next to our present building and connecting the two buildings together. Therefore, we could build a larger building than we anticipated at the time we purchased the lots facing Avenue M. In improving this property in this manner the revenue the City would receive would be increased many times over what it is at the present. Within the past two years we have purchased footage facing Avenue M at a little less than 160 per foot. We feel that 100 per square foot would be a fair price for the 6,350 feet included in the triangle and the alley. If we can carry out the above plans.the City will benefit by additional tax revenue, and we will also be able to create jobs for approximately twice the number we now have employed which will also be a help to the City of Lubbock. We wouldalso like to point out to you that at the time we built our present building facing Avenue L we paid the City of Lubbock $1,332.98 to lay a water line in Avenue L up to our property. I under-. stand the present policy for the City is for the property owners to pay for these lines, and the city reimburse them over a period of years. I also understand there have been cases where the city have gone back to reimburse property owners for lines which were put in prior to the present policy which they are now following. Please advise if this is correct. I would appreciate it ifyou will submit this bid to the City Commissioners, and let us know something definite just as soon as you possibly can as we would like to go ahead with our plans. At best our loss in labor and business would cost between one and two thousanpAollars which we are willing to contribute to the ;-)roject but we cannot assume any part of the cost of placing%s thus.
