After consideration of the above report it was unanimously agreed to go ahead with plans
for annexing this property into the City Limits on the above basis.
The following report was made to the City Commission wherein the City Planning. Commission
in Regular Meeting on October 8, 1953, recommended to the City Commission that the City
Commission reject the change of zone as set out below:
CASE NO. 454 - Request of Royal Crown Bottling Company to change Lot 10, Block 8,
Morning Side Addition from the "C" to "J" Zoning District (29th Street and -Avenue
G). This is a case where an industrial district and a residential district met and
the Planning Commission felt a buffer zone should be established rather than grant-
ing an encroachment of the industrial -zone into the residential area, as this case
would be.
CASE NO. 467 - Request of Euralee Barrier to change Lots 1, 2 and 3, Block 6, and
Lots 22, 23, 24 and east 1/2 of 21, Block 5, Ellwood Place Addition $om the "A" to
"C" Zoning District (College Avenue and 20th Street). The Planning Commission was
of the opinion granting this request would seriously depreciate the property values
in this area, would add to unwarranted congestion of traffic in this locality, and
would be "spot zoning".

Bid #304
The Electric Service'Co. transformers bid by Nunn Electric Corp. and Electric Service Co.'
do not have grain orientated steel as specified. This is according to information received
from their factory representative.
Service from Anderson Young Co. on transformers has provid to be poor; even though a supply
house is maintained in Lubbock, their representatives do not call on us to help out with
any service difficulties or to provide new information. Their warehouse in Lubbock is not
a customer of the City Electric Department.
They bid Wagner transformers, which'in general have 30% more oil required and about 30%
more weight in order to keep the electrical characteristics in line with the major
manufacturers products. This excessive weight and oil must be handled every time the
transformer is removed from our lines and brought into the shop.
I would like to suggest that the following recommendations be -used which are.based upon
electrical or mechanical characteristics or a combination of both:
Item
1. Suggest Westinghouse on weight, oil content, and impedance
2. Suggest Westinghouse on weight, oil content, and impedance
3. Suggest Nelson Electric (A-C) on weight, oil content and impedance
4. Suggest G. E. Supply on weight, oil content and impedance
5. Suggest Nelson on weight, oil content, and impedance
6. Suggest Westinghouse on weight, oil content and impedance
7. Akiggest G. E. on weight, oil. content
S. Suggest C. B. Anderson due to reduced no load and full load losses.
(Note) This will affect a net saving of $26.80 during the life of each
transformer.
9. Same as Item 8. Net saving of $20.50 per transformer during life of
each transformer.
1D. Suggest Electrical Supply on electrical characteristics.
